About Jamie
I'm Jamie Clarke. I help service businesses build marketing that actually works.
No jargon. No 40-page reports. Just someone who'll tell you straight what your marketing needs - and what it doesn't.
How I got here
I spent years working with service businesses - trades, coaches, consultants, accountants, professional services. All sorts. And I kept seeing the same thing over and over again.
People who were brilliant at their trade and completely lost the minute they had to market it.
They weren't bad at it. They just didn't know where to start. So they'd try a bit of social media. Run some ads. Maybe hire an agency. And none of it joined up. Nothing stuck.
The problem was never effort. It was order. They were trying to build bridges from the middle.
And I'm not preaching from a pedestal here. I've made most of these mistakes myself. I worked with hundreds of businesses before I started asking any of them for a review, because I never saw the importance. The order matters. I learned that the hard way, so you don't have to.
One bridge. Built properly. All the way to the other side.
That's what was missing. So I created The Perfect Customer Journey - a simple six-stage framework that shows businesses the order things need to happen in. From stranger to fan. Step by step.
It changed everything for the businesses I worked with. And it's now at the heart of everything I do.
The human stuff
I'm from Wigan, so straight talk comes as standard. If something's not working, I'll tell you...
...and then I'll show you how to fix it. That's the bit most people skip.
Away from marketing, I'm a husband and dad. I play golf badly but enthusiastically. Every year I convince myself this is the year it all clicks. It never is.
I'm not an agency. I'm not a LinkedIn guru. I've built the websites, written the emails, sat in the meetings where the agency report made no sense to anyone in the room. Everything I teach comes from doing the work, not reading about it.
What I believe
Strategy before tactics. Always.
Don't post, run ads, or build a website until you know why you're doing it and who it's for. Get the order right first.
Simple beats complex.
If you can't explain your marketing plan on the back of a napkin, it's too complicated. The best strategies are the ones you'll actually follow.
Marketing will never be easy. But it can be a lot easier.
I won't pretend it's a walk in the park. But when you know what to do and in what order, it stops feeling like guesswork.
Version one beats version none.
Done is better than perfect. Get it out there, see what works, and improve as you go. Waiting for perfect means waiting forever.
