Privacy policy

Like everything else I write, this is in plain English. Here's what I collect, why, and what I'll never do with it.

I'm Jamie Clarke, based in Wigan, and I'm responsible for your information on this site. You can reach me at me@jamieclarke.online.

What I collect

• Things you give me: your name, email, phone number, website address and anything you write in a form: when you request a web review, download a guide, sign up for the Memo, book a call or contact me.
• Basic usage data: anonymous, privacy-respecting analytics about which pages get visited, so I can make the site better. No creepy cross-site tracking.

What I use it for

• Delivering the thing you asked for: your review, your call, your reply.
• Sending you marketing emails, only if you asked for them. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe.
• Improving the website and my services.

The legal basis: when you ask me for something, I use your details to give it to you. Marketing emails only go to people who've said yes to them, and you can change your mind at any time. The anonymous analytics are there because I've got a legitimate interest in knowing which pages are useful.

What I will never do

• Sell your data. To anyone. Ever.
• Add you to lists you didn't ask to be on.
• Keep emailing you after you unsubscribe.

Where it lives

I use a small number of trusted services to run things:

• PortalOS (my customer system, built on GoHighLevel): form enquiries, bookings and emails.
• Substack: sending The Marketing Memo.
• Cloudflare: hosting this website and stopping spam on the forms.
• Fathom Analytics: the anonymous page stats.

Some of these store data outside the UK, mainly in the US. When that happens it's covered by the safeguards UK law requires. I keep your details only as long as I need them for the things above, and if you ask me to delete them, I will.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask me what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Email me@jamieclarke.online and I'll sort it, usually the same week, always within a month.

If you're ever unhappy with how I've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. I'd appreciate the chance to put it right first, though.

Cookies

I keep cookies to the minimum needed for the site to work and for the anonymous analytics above. No advertising cookies.
