The job
F.G. Welch is a family-run central heating and gas firm in Wigan, and they’ve been going since 1985. They’ve got a great reputation locally, but their old website didn’t show any of it.
The brief was to rebuild the site so it looked and worked properly, while keeping every existing web address exactly the same, so none of the Google rankings they’d built up over the years got lost.
What I did
- Put the trust on the page. Gas Safe registered, family-run since 1985, and free no-obligation quotes, all at the top of the homepage.
- Made booking easy. A proper booking form, and on a phone, “Call Now” and “Book Online” buttons that sit at the bottom of the screen the whole time.
- Gave every service its own page. Boiler repairs, servicing, installations, radiators, power flushing, underfloor heating and air conditioning, each written for what people actually search for.
- Showed the brands. Worcester Bosch, Ideal and the other manufacturers they work with, which tells homeowners they’re dealing with a proper firm.
- Kept every web address. Every page lives at the same address it always did, and the services they no longer offer point people to the right place instead.
Where it’s at now
The new site’s live at fgwelch.co.uk, and it’s the same F.G. Welch everyone in Wigan already knows, just online this time.
